The essence of KeySkill.com is to provide quality training and continuous professional development on the web, free of charge. The business was created with four directors six months before the 2008 credit crisis hit the headlines.
Each director approached this project with humility and ambition. Humility is warranted because today’s business world evidence suggests there is little certainty. Ambition comes from knowing the service and the business model we are building is adaptable, highly responsive to our suppliers and customers, and operates with low overheads. Importantly it is in step with the political, social and economic changes occurring in the world. In today’s climate it has the makings of a successful enterprise.
The defining shocks that have rocked the world’s economic systems are cathartic. Many of the traditional business practices operating around the globe are under critical appraisal, and the consensus is now receptive to alternative ways of operation. It is a fortuitous time for this business: we have created a new dynamic, educational model that challenges traditional routes and rejects the barriers of cost, accessibility, and flexibility that learners frequently encounter.
A platform has been built from which we deliver door to door education free of charge. To improve on the majority of learning packages available on the web we have upgraded the learning experience by using video as the form of communication between the Specialist and learner. A learning management system tracks the progress of each learner and an annual subscription is charged for the service.
The KeySkill platform is a marketing outlet for Universities, Colleges, experts and specialists. Through video lecturers can present to a global audience a series of lectures supported by a powerpoint presentation. A link to promote their own organization or business can be made within their presentation. It is not only worldwide exposure that benefits a Content Provider. Keyskill’s income comes from Advertisers and a percentage of the revenue generated by advertising is shared with the Providers.
The business plan’s focus is on fast production, an engaging learning experience and partnerships with Content Providers. There are no demarcations; a learner can also be a Content Provider and vice versa. It is a model which appeals to a world that is shifting towards democratisation, and it brings many business opportunities for Keyskill, for Providers and for individuals within the sites learning community. Learners gain free access to leading specialists in CPD and vocational training
Advertisers gain exposure to a segmented audience that is orientated towards education with the additional opportunity for product placement in associated content from leading Specialists.
